In the last years, many scientific-electronic publication initiatives have been taken in countries from Latin America and the Caribbean; nonetheless, these publications are only some among the thousands of pages that are added day by day to world servers. In addition to this, on-line publications are not restricted to instituted methodologies; they are displayed in dissimilar formats and styles and are not generally subject to editorial standardization. Due to this, it is necessary to locate the on-line scientific publication produced in the area, identify which one is a relevant and high quality product, and exhibit it in a very well organized way aimed at satisfying users' information needs. This is the chief target of the link to electronic journals. With Link to electronic journals development, the Latindex system is likewise intending targets to foster the on-line scientific publication and playing a part in setting grade standards, policies and criteria for the electronic scientific publication as well as in developing related technologies. Link to electronic journals provides direct access to Latin American journals which are available in electronic format through Internet.
Direct Searching
•Select “Link to electronic journals” option then after reloading the page, insert periodical's title into box “Periodical Title”. • In order to see an archive, please click on mouse button in the correspondent item.
List Search
•There are five lists “Title”, “Subject”, “Country”, “Editorial” and “Indexation”. • Select a list and choose alphabet letter you desire to consult. • In order to consult journals which titles are beginning with digits or symbols, use the icon preceding A character. •“Indexation” listing refers to information services, databases, indexation and summaries in which journal is reviewed. • The requested list will be displayed by alphabetical order. •At clicking on journal's title with mouse button customers will have instant access to the journa's site in electronic version. •In the “Recoverable List” option, full information is offered on temporary coverage of journal on-line, type of access (free or restricted) and editing format (pdf, html, word, among others).
Even though most Latin American journals collected by Latindex are freely available, it might be possible that some of them can fix a fee or some sort of control in order to make consultations. In all these cases, a customer either must follow instructions been provided on visited page or have directly instant connection with service provider.
