The Latindex Directory records a wide variety of either academic journals or academic subject interest with information which enables to know its course, subject specialization, publishing body, coverage in databases and distribution procedures, among others. Standardized data in harmony with the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN), are afforded to each title, as well as supplementary appropriate information, in order to be either a consultation or recovering aim.

In order to provide a versatile and efficient service, the Directory offers dissimilar consultation modalities: straight, by lists (title, theme, country, publishing house and indexing) or by topic fields.
The Directory started to be compiled back in 1997 from Latin-American and Caribbean journals™ data, which UNAM receives and select for indexing in its CLASE and PERIÓDICA databases. More countries were adhered to the System, and to the same extent, records were added, and currently eighteen affiliated countries of Latindex build up and update their domestic databases to integrate them to the Directory. Into the bargain, as they are being identified, journals from countries have been yet integrated to the System are recorded.

Straight Search

•Choose “Directory” option, after page reloading, insert journal's title in the checkboxes signaling “Journal's title”.
•To view an archive, please click on the appropriate item.

Searchable Lists

• There are five lists “Title”, “Theme”, “Country”, “Publishing House” and “Indexation”.
•Select a list and choose alphabet letter you desire to make a consultation.
• In order to consult periodicals which titles are beginning with digits or symbols, use the icon preceding A character.
• “Indexation” listing is referring to information services, data bases, indexation and summaries in which periodical is reviewed.
• The requested list will be displayed by alphabetical order.
• To view a record click on the appropriate item.

Advanced Search

•Insert in each field the data to be recovered .
•You may search information either in just one field or in diverse fields at the same time. In this latter event the “and” operator is included. .
•For researches with shortening, just click on initial characters. E.g.: bibl da, as a result bibliography, library, etc.
•In subject fields “Theme”, “Language”, “Indexed/summarized in”, “Country”, “Situation”, “Frequency” and “Software” please choose data to search by opening information case.
•After entering or selecting data, please pulse SEARCH button.
•If wish you to delete information in subject fields please pulse CLEAR DATA button.
•As a searching's consequence, the system will produce a listing with overall records fulfilling parameters chosen by you.
•To view a record, please click on the appropriate item.

Subjects Fields Description

Folio. A consecutive cipher that system assigns to each comprised titled.

Collection. Name of the country taking care of compiling information.

Date. Day, month and year in which record was entered into Directory.

Type of Record. For journals which are brand-new in the Directory, it will appear: Insert for first time, for those already existing in the Directory and have been either amended or updated, it will appear: Modified.

Key Title. The way it is exactly recorded by ISSN (International Standard Serial Number).

Abridged Title. The Abridged title, like the one employed by the journal.

Own Title. It is the title just the way it appears on front page.

Country. Name of the country where periodical is issued. In the event publisher being an International body so it will show: International.

Situation. It points out either the title is in force, is not published again or its situation results unknown.

Starting Year. The year in which the journal started to be published under that Title.

Finished Publishing Year. The year in which it was published for last time under this Title.

Frequency. It points at the publishing frequency of the journal.

Type of Publication. It indicates if it is either a periodical or monographic serial publication.

Software. It signs to the software or format in which journal is available.

Language. Language (s) of the journal text.

ISSN. Eight digit code representing the International standardized number of serial publications.

Other Titles. Other titles by which journal is known.

Foregoing Title. If it is the occasion, shows the preceding journal's Title.

Further Title. It illustrates the new Title, if the eventual journal has shifted its Title.

Themes. Topic or Chief Subjects of the journal, accordingly a ranking developed by Latindex System.

Universal Decimal Classification. Theme or core issues of the Journal grounded on Universal Decimal Classification.

Dewey Classification. Theme or periodicals core topics, based upon Dewey Classification.

Press Officer Body. Name of the Institution or Publishing Institutions.

Place. Name of the city where journal is published.

Editorial. Name of the Publishing Company or entity liable for editing work, only if it is different from liable body or entity's name.

Head Staff. Full name of journal's head.

Street and Number. Postal Address of Publishing Institution of the Journal.

Demarcation/Municipality/Locality. Name of the city sector where Publishing Institution is located.

State/Province/District. Name of the political-administrative division which matches to each country.

Publishing Country. Name of the country where journal is published.

Zip Code. Code in the exactly way publisher supplies.

Postal address/Post Office Box. Number of the Post Office Box, box number, mail box, air mail, etc.

E-mail. Electronic address of the publisher or journal.

Partial electronic link. Electronic address of a journal in which overall information is supplied for periodicals, subscriptions, prices, content list, etc.

Phone (s). Phone numbers of the office that edits journal.

Fax. Office's Fax number which is publishing the journal.

Indexed / summarized in. Names or Abbreviations of the Information Services (databases, indexing services and abstracts) in which journal is reviewed.

Publication Origin. It indicates journal type.

Liable Body Nature. Type of journal's publishing institution.

Price. It shows Periodical's prices valid in the currency unit in circulation throughout its origin country and eventually in U.S. dollars.

Daily circulation. Number of copies or reproductions that journal publishes.

Distribution (shapes). It signs in what way journal is distributed: subscription, memberships, change, contribution, straight sales to viewers, etc.

Distribution (ways). It indicates the spreading ways of journals: sea transportation, air transportation, roadway, gopher, WWW, etc.

Geographic distribution. Publication Scope, it could be: domestic or international, as well as the amount of countries which are distributed.

Notes. In this field the name of journal's publishing institutions could be indicated when exits more than one; volume, number and year of article have been consulted for entering data as well as other information that collecting centers regard material.

URL. Address of Web page where journal could be consulted, when is available via Internet in full text.

Temporary journal coverage. Starting date on which the journal offers its whole texts in the concerned site.

Output format. It indicates the formats on which journals are offered.

Access. It shows if the access to the journal electronic version requires a previous registration or if it has a price.
