In this paper it is analyzed the essay El ojo en la mira (2021) by Diamela Eltit. In this book, the author reconstructs the history of her radings, in a sort of reading autobiography, following the outline of the editorial proposal (Lector&s, by Ampersand). We take the concept ‘ways of reading’ of Argentinean critic Josefina Ludmer to analyze the way in which Eltit makes an analysis of her literary training. From this point, she also analyzes the literary field (we consider the concept formulated by Pierre Bourdieu, from literary sociology) of her country, Chile. Her way of reading and her writing are made from a feminist key, as a symbol of minority groups in general. Because of that, the theoretical frame of the paper is based on feminisms in general, in relationship with literature.

The terror, persecution, kidnapping, disappearance and desperate search for members of the Jewish community during the last civil-military dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983) set the context for this article. It analyses the activities carried out by a small group of Jews aimed at denouncing anti-Semitism and human rights violations committed by the dictatorship, including the liberation of the victims or the investigation of their fate. These actions led, towards the end of the period under study, to the formation of the Jewish Movement for Human Rights. After outlining the main characteristics of a social movement, the paper explores those that correspond to the Jewish Movement for Human Rights: the background of its members, the first conversations, the actions taken to confront the dictatorship and its constitution. It includes the conflicts unleashed not only against the dictatorial regime, but also - and particularly - within the Jewish community. The article culminates with a description of the circumstances that determined its progressive decline until its end, well into democratic times.

Housing is much more than a physical space. It is at the heart of people's social and emotional lives, providing security, identity and community ties. In Mexico, access to adequate housing is a challenge for those who work in the informal sector, lack benefits or earn low incomes, as financing systems are limited and the housing market is prone to speculation. Faced with these barriers, many people have settled in informal settlements, where lack of basic services, legal insecurity and precarious living conditions prevail. This ethnographic research was developed through semi-structured interviews and participant observation in three informal settlements located on the outskirts of Zapopan, within the metropolitan area of Guadalajara. The findings highlight that home ownership is a central element in the inhabitants' narratives. This generates feelings of pride and satisfaction at having obtained a space of their own. However, these evaluations coexist with stories of structural deficiencies, insecurity and lack of services. Thus, a positive re-signification of the inhabited environment is observed, which combines symbolic appropriation with experiences of precariousness and urban exclusion.

Mariana Mazzucato, one of the most influential economists of our time, addresses in Mission Economy the urgent need to rethink the role of the State in the contemporary economy. The book, which combines historical analysis, critiques of the current model, and ambitious proposals, presents a bold vision: governments must shift from being reactive agents that merely correct market failures to leading transformative missions that promote social well-being and sustainability.

In June 2013, Brazil witnessed an unprecedented wave of protests. What began in São Paulo as a demonstration against a 20-cent increase in public transportation fares rapidly spread across the country. Initially focused on a specific demand, the protests progressively evolved into a social uprising without clear leadership, shaped by diffuse and often antagonistic slogans. A collective “we” emerged, transcending traditional political frameworks and uniting around a shared sense of discontent and collective indignation. More than ten years after these events, this article examines the labyrinthine configuration of these collective protests and their dilemmas, as well as their sociopolitical impact on contemporary Brazilian public life. Through a hermeneutic-interpretive approach, it explores the mobilization’s diverse dynamics, its multiple symbolic layers, and the contested meanings surrounding collective indignation. Furthermore, it analyzes how the 2013 protests reshaped Brazilian political culture, marking a transition in the public sphere toward more volatile and fragmented structures, characterized by institutional distrust, post-truth narratives, and digital overexposure—fostering an environment conducive to the rise of messianic and right-wing populist movements.

This article analyzes neoliberalism and its impacts on penal control. Prepared through bibliographical and documentary research, the work examines some of the political, economic and social dissonances produced by the consolidation of neoliberalism in the political-economic and rationale spheres, aiming to highlight their connections with the intensification of penal control. As a framework, it uses the case of Brazil. Based on the analyses outlined, the conclusion presented is that the disturbances caused by neoliberalism, which are its constitutive features, cause the intensification and mobilization of punitive demands that are commonly co-opted by political actors linked to the extreme right, which, in many cases, end up acquiring concreteness through the legislative process, in the form of laws that aim to tighten penal control over certain individuals.

In 2016, marking the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Louis-Joseph Lebret (1897–1966), founder and promoter of the Economy and Humanism movement in France, CLAEH and the International Network of Human Economy organized a seminar aimed at addressing the current challenges of human and sustainable development, drawing inspiration from Lebret’s thought. In 1941, Fr. Lebret founded in Marseille the research and action center Economy and Humanism, which later continued its work from Paris through the IRFED (International Institute for Research and Training for Harmonized Development), contributing to the emergence of an alternative vision to economicism and advocating for an integral and harmonized model of development.
